Scientific Misconduct
Avoiding misconduct is a priority of the Pakistan Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention. Suppose the reviewer or editor identifies data fabrication, duplicate publication or ethical concerns etc. The case will be inquired by the handling editor, and if misconduct was found and no reliable explanation is received from the authors, the manuscript will inevitably be rejected without any notice.
Data Fabrication, Falsification & Retraction
When scientific misconduct (like fabrication; data falsification, deceptive manipulation of images; and plagiarism) is detected, or concerns are raised about the originality of work in final or published papers, the editor must follow appropriate procedures according to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. The procedure involves an investigation of the author's work. If scientific misconduct is proved to be true through the investigation, the retraction process is initiated. Expressions of concern and retracted articles would explicitly be labelled in all their forms (abstract, full text, PDF). Retracted articles would remain in the public domain.
Citation Manipulation
Submitted manuscripts that include citations in an effort to increase the number of citations to an author's work or to articles of a particular journal will be subjected to a citation manipulation penalty.
Improper Author Contribution or Attribution
Corresponding authors are expected to list the names of all valid authors and contributors in the manuscript.
Redundant Publications
To increase the publication number, authors tend to divide the study results into several small segments, which are then used in various studies. However, in case of vast data and several parameters being adopted that cannot be summarized in one paper, then such activity can be justifiable, but the study demographics are still considered to be plagiarized, and such results are not publishable. Pakistan Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention strictly discourages redundant publications.
Penalty
For any of the proven misconducts, the Pakistan Journal of Cardiovascular Intervention immediately rejects or retracts the article.
